In Year 4, we have been reading ‘Oliver and the Seawigs’ by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre.
We have just met Cliff who is a rambling isle who needs to attend the Hallowed Shallows for the Night of the Seawigs. However, he does not have a seawig so he cannot attend the contest. We have created seawigs for Cliff to wear. Take a look…which one do you think he will choose?
Last week, Year 3 went on a very exciting trip to Colchester Zoo. We learned a lot about different creatures, particularly those that live in the rainforest.
The children enjoyed seeing the vast array of animals and the habitats that have been created for them, from the ant colony and the creepy-crawlies in the Discovery Centre…
…to the elephant paddock and the tiger enclosure (feeding time was not for the faint-hearted).
It was a great day out. Many thanks to all of the volunteers who gave up their time to come with us!
On Thursday we helped a team of volunteers from Thames Chase to re-plant our hedge at the back of the school. All the Eco Warriors helped. The people from Thames Chase also repaired our growing beds and built us a lovely mini-beast hotel. We found a little frog.
We really enjoyed it and want to say thank you to all the people at Thames Chase!
On Wednesday, 14th March, our Eco Schools team visited the Mayor at the Town Hall. They learnt about her role as First Citizen of Havering and how the Council are ensuring that the local environment is well kept and constantly improved. They also had opportunities to try on the Mayor’s robes and carry the ceremonial Mace, as well as having refreshments in the Mayor’s Parlour.
They all really enjoyed their visit.
All the pupils have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the club since January 2018. We focused on a range of investigations and problem solving activities to further develop their mathematical ability. Their behaviour and enthusiasm for each session has been exceptional. Well done!
