On Saturday, 14th October, seventeen members of Year 6 attended the National Pilgrimage at Westminster Abbey to celebrate the life of St Edward the Confessor. Having walked from Waterloo Station, the children arrived as ‘walking pilgrims’ and had their feet washed by a member of the clergy. They then attended a musical production on the life of St Edward, followed by a Eucharist Service, at which eight of the children read the intercessions. After lunch, the children took part in Shrine Prayers and made pilgrim badges before attending Choral Evensong. Many people commented on the children’s wonderful reading and the reverent way in which they took part in the Evensong procession carrying our school banner.
