Wellgate Farm
Today we enjoyed a visit from Wellgate Farm. The farmers brought a selection of animals including a cow, sheep, goats, geese and a Polish hen. The children were able to feed and pet the animals and enjoyed interacting with them. The children were so keen to meet the animals they kept a close eye on them throughout their lunchtime, waiting for their turn. We were lucky it was such a warm, sunny day and the animals enjoyed the shade under the trees and bushes.

Our African Animals Experience
On Monday 22nd May, Key Stage 2 had some special furry, scaly and scary visitors. We had the opportunity to hold, stroke and pet African animals such as a Pygmy hedgehog, a hissing cockroach, a baby meerkat and a royal python. Some children were even brave enough to wear the python around their neck! Mitch shared lots of information about each of the animals including their diet, habitat and how he came about rescuing them. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!

Outdoor Learning Day Year 2
On Thursday 18th May 2017 Year 2 took part in the national outdoor learning day.
They spent time outside making a bird feeder using cheerios, string and pipe cleaners.
The children were all so impressed with their bird feeders and couldn’t wait to take them home and hang them up!

Electricity experiment
In Year 4, we have been learning about electricity! We were given a set of scenario cards and predicted whether each circuit would work or not and explained why. Then we had to INVESTIGATE…
We explored each circuit, adding different wires, bulbs, motors, buzzers and switches. Our teachers challenged us to make the bulbs brighter and the buzzers louder. We found out that the more batteries you added to the circuit, the brighter the bulb would light up.
Here are some pictures of us investigating…

Year 5 CSI trip!
Recently, Year 5 went to Barking and Dagenham College to take part in a Crime Scene Investigation. Our trip was based at their STEM Centre and this stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
Blood spatter
During our time at the college, we were shown a range of blood spatters and informed of how much information you can get from the different spatters. We learnt about high velocity and low velocity and how they were injured and how tall the person is.
CARS
After lunch, we were shown three hand built cars one of which was driven by a Formula One racing driver.
We got to sit in all 3 cars and had to get out in under 5 seconds. They all had deep seats and it felt really weird.
E-Fits
In E-Fits we had to make the suspects face using the information that we had, for example the person had curly brown hair and almond shaped eyes. We got to make our own suspects and we really enjoyed this activity.
Fingerprints
We learnt how to take an imprint of our fingerprint and were taught how to analyse each print. We then used this skill to find the culprit.

Samuel at the farm
I went to the farm last week with my friends. I went on a minibus. I saw a chicken with an egg, piglets, sheep, lambs. My favourite was Barney the bull because he has a ring in his nose.
