This week we have made Christmas cards for our partner school in Kenya. First we had to think about what we wanted to write about inside. We wrote about how we celebrate Jesus’ birthday. We then made a Christmas card and drew different pictures of the Nativity scene. Juliet drew a picture of the stable with Jesus lying in a manger. She also drew the Star that the 3 Wise Men followed. Annabelle drew one of the Wise Men visiting Jesus, who was also lying in the manger and the bright star was shining brightly.
We are going to send these cards to the school in Kenya for the children to read about how we celebrate Christmas.
We hope to get a card back from them telling us how they celebrate Christmas.
How many paper clips can your magnet hold in a chain?
What is the distance between the magnet and the table when a paperclip jumps up?
What is the distance between the magnet and the paper clip when it slides along the table?
The photos below show the children investigating.
On Saturday, 14th October, seventeen members of Year 6 attended the National Pilgrimage at Westminster Abbey to celebrate the life of St Edward the Confessor. Having walked from Waterloo Station, the children arrived as ‘walking pilgrims’ and had their feet washed by a member of the clergy. They then attended a musical production on the life of St Edward, followed by a Eucharist Service, at which eight of the children read the intercessions. After lunch, the children took part in Shrine Prayers and made pilgrim badges before attending Choral Evensong. Many people commented on the children’s wonderful reading and the reverent way in which they took part in the Evensong procession carrying our school banner.
Thank you to everyone who gave so generously to our Harvest Festival appeal. All the food was taken to the Romford Food Bank at St Edward’s Church last Friday. Some members of Year 6 gave up their time to sort and pack the food ready for the Food Bank.
