Last Monday, we were thrilled that St Edward’s Water Polo Team won the ‘Havering Primary Sports Team of the Year Award’ at the annual award ceremony organised by the Sports Council. It is the second year running that the school has won this prestigious award. Many congratulations to the team!

Last Wednesday, St Edward’s Water Polo team won the Havering Water Polo Tournament for the fifth year running.  Our A and B teams competed against six other teams, including Ardleigh Green, Engayne and Parsonage Farm Primary Schools.  By the final match all the other schools had been defeated.  Our A team beat our B team 6:2  to win the championship once again.

Sadly, Water Polo is not included in this year’s London Youth Games, so our team will not be representing Havering at Crystal Palace.

On Thursday, 26th January we welcomed Bishop Peter, Bishop of Barking, to our school.  He led acts of worship for children in Key Stages 1 and 2, delighting the children with his storytelling, before meeting staff and pupils in their classes.  House captains, representing Eagles, Hawks, Ravens and Swifts, provided a tour of the school.  Bishop Peter then had lunch with members of the school’s worship committee who explained their role in leading the development of our worship.  Everyone enjoyed Bishop Peter’s visit and we look forward to welcoming him to events in the future.
