Science week in 4C!

Our favourite part of science week was the animals. Our favourite animal was the meerkat because it was cute and furry. We also liked the broken vase investigation. We thought it was Mrs Hall and it was, but it was by accident. When you go to a crime scene you have to wear special clothes. You have to wear a white coat, special material shoes and gloves. And also a mask.We went to the year 1 and 2 blue area and we found Mrs Hall’s finger print on the glass that belong to Mrs Hall.

Also we put pop rocks in sparkling Water and lemonade to blow up a balloon. Some people helped in the project and some people took pictures. We also put mentoos in coke and tablets in the fizzy water and it exploded. We also made patterns with skittles in a bowl and added water. Then we played with something made of corn flour. It is solid and liquid.

How do you throw an egg on the floor without cracking it?

Who would have thought that a little cornflour and water would protect a raw egg from concrete?

Classifying liquorice allsorts for Science!

Recently, we have been learning about how to classify animals using classification keys. We did such a good job that our teachers gave us the challenge to make a classification key for a group of liquorice allsorts.
You will be able to have a go at our classification keys on Thursday’s exhibition but here are some pictures showing us learning…

How do you blow up a balloon without using your breath?

Today, in Year 4, we have been investigating how to inflate a balloon without using our breath. We had lots of ideas including using a balloon pump, filling it with water and putting popping candy inside the balloon with a fizzy drink.

To find out how we managed to inflate the balloons, come along to the science exhibition on Thursday in the hall after school…

Here are some pictures to get you thinking…

Electricity experiment

In Year 4, we have been learning about electricity! We were given a set of scenario cards and predicted whether each circuit would work or not and explained why. Then we had to INVESTIGATE…

We explored each circuit, adding different wires, bulbs, motors, buzzers and switches. Our teachers challenged us to make the bulbs brighter and the buzzers louder. We found out that the more batteries you added to the circuit, the brighter the bulb would light up.

Here are some pictures of us investigating…

The exciting things we have been getting up to in Year 4

IN PE we have been listening to Chinese music whilst dancing using mirroring and unison techniques. We have got into pairs and acted out as Shang warriors, then we started marching into a line and began to fight in battle.

In science we have been learning about our digestive system and how our food travels through our body. Check back for more information next week.
