Outdoor Learning Day
On Thursday 18th May 2017, our school took part in the national Outdoor Learning Day. Year 3 researched different types of birds and their diets. We then went outside and made a bird feeder using floral wire and string. We placed cheese, chopped apples and cheerios on the wire before bending it to form a circle. Finally, we tied string to it ready to hang in our gardens.
Did you know that the study of birds is called Ornithology?
For homework this week we will be becoming ornithologists… Our job is to observe our bird feeders and we look forward to sharing facts and information on the types of birds that have visited.

How do you blow up a balloon without using your breath?
Today, in Year 4, we have been investigating how to inflate a balloon without using our breath. We had lots of ideas including using a balloon pump, filling it with water and putting popping candy inside the balloon with a fizzy drink.
To find out how we managed to inflate the balloons, come along to the science exhibition on Thursday in the hall after school…
Here are some pictures to get you thinking…

Wellgate Farm
Today we enjoyed a visit from Wellgate Farm. The farmers brought a selection of animals including a cow, sheep, goats, geese and a Polish hen. The children were able to feed and pet the animals and enjoyed interacting with them. The children were so keen to meet the animals they kept a close eye on them throughout their lunchtime, waiting for their turn. We were lucky it was such a warm, sunny day and the animals enjoyed the shade under the trees and bushes.

Our African Animals Experience
On Monday 22nd May, Key Stage 2 had some special furry, scaly and scary visitors. We had the opportunity to hold, stroke and pet African animals such as a Pygmy hedgehog, a hissing cockroach, a baby meerkat and a royal python. Some children were even brave enough to wear the python around their neck! Mitch shared lots of information about each of the animals including their diet, habitat and how he came about rescuing them. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!
